How could this Cat prayer be changed to focus on God's glory?
"Lord, I guess I'm not telling you anything you don't already know, but I was just informed that I'm pregnant and I don't even know who the father is. I don't know what to do... and I'm so young... I've got my whole life in front of me! How can I take care of a baby? What will my parents say? Where will I get the money? "
Here's what we think:
Dog Prayer: Lord, I've made a huge mistake. I walked away from your paths and from You. I've brought dis-repute on Your name and for that I am so sorry! Lord, don't let my reputation give others cause to despise you... Give me guidance now as to how I can minimize the damage to Your name. I know my parents will be heart-broken too, so please help them to be strong and to display Your heart under these trying times.
Our Analysis
Life isn't free from mistakes, but some carry consequences that last longer and are more obvious than others. The Cat prayer is from a young lady in crisis... and the focus of her concern is limited to herself. The Dog prayer recognizes the same crisis, but shows a heart of concern for God and wants to rectify things so the damage to God is limited and controlled.
