01. Courage to stand
Father, You have placed a passion in my heart to serve You. Why do I make excuses and keep failing You? At youth group we sing’ ’’Jesus, lead on, I will follow.’’ I sing that song, yet many times You don’t see it in my life. I’m sorry. I need courage to stand for You and live for You.
02. Purity
God, my heart’s not pure. My thoughts my feelings are filled with distractions that I know are not pleasing to You. Let my entire life be focused on You. In Psalm 119 Your words says, ’’ How can a young person stay pure? By obeying Your word.’’ I have tried hard to find You. Don’t let me wander from Your commands. I’ve hidden Your word in my heart that I might not sin against You. Keep me obedient to Your word. Don’t let me wander from Your commands. I want to hide Your word in my heart so that I might be pure.
03. My Mindset
Lord, I’ve become jealous of other peoples stuff. God I know that being jealous for things isn’t pleasing to You. This is sin and I ask for forgiveness. Cause me to realize that what I have in You is so much more important than anything or anyone in this world.
04. Respecting My Parents
God, cause me to be respectful to my parents. They do so much for me and yet some days I just take it all for granted. Help me to be obedient and thankful, because I know that please You.
05. Friends
Lord, it seems like I’ve so few friends that I can really be myself with. It seems like when I’m with them, I’m not myself. Why? It’s so frustrating! Please, please, give me the strength to just be me and to live for You know matter who I’m with.
06. Hunger for God
Jesus, I need to give my thoughts to You. I constantly think about the opposite sex. I know this is natural, but it’s beginning to consume me and I know that’s wrong. Give me a hunger for You, so that I’m thinking more about you than anything or anyone else.
07. Dating
Father, my heart has been broken. I’ve been hurt and scarred by the dating game. That can’t be the purpose of dating. Those I’m attracted to should build me up in my relationship with You, not tear me down. Give me a new start in understanding of what it means to be just friends and not have the pressure of dating.
08. Purity
Lord, I am trusting that you have picked out the perfect person that I'm going to spend the rest of my life with. Give both of us the patience to wait for each other. Keep us both pure. And whatever happens, do not let me mess up your perfect plan for us.
09. All About You
Lord, a cord of three strands is not easily broken. You should be the center of all my relationships, from friends, to dating to family. Help me to remember to pray with my friends. And in all my relationships everything should revolve around you.
10. Quiet Times
Lord, I know I need to have regular quiet times, but I don’t always do that and I find that when I don’t I can get distracted and stressed out. My daily activities have somehow become more important than you. Everything in my life should completely revolve around You. Help me to remember that. And please, please make me meet with You everyday.
11. Sports
Lord, I love to play sports. I love the excitement of the game, coming out on top. I just love sports. But God, sometimes I am more worried about how ’’I ’’do, than I am about how the team does. I guess I’m more focused on winning the game than I am about pleasing You and playing for You. I just think that sometimes my love for sports becomes an idol in my life. Forgive me when that happens and keep me playing to glorify You!
12. Divorced Parents
God, my parents are divorced and it seems like they hate each other. My dad talks trash about my mom and my mom talks trash about my dad. How can I love them both, when they can't even love each other? Please, show me how I can honor and love them.God, it seems like an impossible task. I feel unwanted, unloved, and sometimes, I feel like it is all my fault. I need you. Help me to feel your grace and your love.
13. Love Unconditionally
Lord, there are a lot of people at school or church that really bug me. They seem weird to me. One side of me wants to avoid them completely and have nothing to do with them. I only want to hang around my friends. But I know that’s not Your will. Your word says, ’’that I am to love everyone’’. Help me to love them unconditionally, just as You do.
14. Siblings
Lord, I love my brothers and sisters, but at times they make me so frustrated, I feel like I could go crazy. They get into my stuff, they won’t leave me alone, and I just don’t feel respected by them. I know having these feelings doesn’t please You. So help me to love them as You love them and cause me to see them as You do. Jesus make me the best sibling I can be.
15. Anger
Lord, at times I get so angry. I think about yelling or throwing something, but that just doesn’t seem right. This anger burns inside of me. What’s wrong with me? Show me how to deal with my anger and how to let go of it. Father, I lay my anger before You and ask You to take it. Please make me so satisfied in You that there won’t be any room for anger.
16. Gossip
Lord, gossip is so hurtful. It spreads like a fire and it pulls me in without me even knowing it. How can I reflect Your love if I’m dissing other people? I either need to walk away from it, or stop it. I just don’t want to be a part of it anymore. Jesus, help me to be a positive influence toward my friends. Please make my words honor You!
17. Holiness
Lord, Your word tells me that I am to be pure and holy. But it seems like every movie and television show that I watch just fills my head with useless and meaningless junk, and I don’t want that. Cause me to desire Your perfect holiness and to resist what the world has to offer.
18. Holiness
God, your Word tells me that my body is Your holy temple. I want it to be true about me. Keep my eyes from looking at things I shouldn’t. Keep my mind from thinking impure thoughts. Keep my hands from touching anything that is unpleasing to You. Keep my ears from listening to trash. And keep my feet from straying from what I know I should do. I want to be holy, dedicated only to You. My body is Your holy temple.
19. Life Perspective
Lord, there are a lot of things about school or life or work that I like! But there are some parts that simply stink. It probably stinks because I am too focused on me and not so much on You. It’s not about me. It is about You and Your glory. Cause me to please You.
20. My Friends
Lord, I worry way too much about what people think of me. I’m worried about whether they like me, do they want to hang out with me, if they think I’m cool. Help me to be myself and not to worry about what others think. Jesus, You determine my worth, not other people. Keep me more focused on You, rather than on myself.
21. Self Image
Lord, I know I’m beautiful in Your eyes, but I don’t always feel it. In fact sometimes I don’t even like myself. Lots of times I just wish I was different. Sometimes more social, and then sometimes more reserved. And then taller and sometimes shorter. And sometimes fatter and then sometimes skinnier. But how I view myself is not what is important. How You view me matters the most. Psalm 139 says that You made me the exact way You wanted me to be. Cause me to be happy with who I am and how You’ve made me.
22. Eternal Life
Father, my life isn’t about what I accomplish. What I win and what I’m good at. If I’m not doing it for You, it doesn’t matter. I wanna do things for You so that it will last forever. Cause me to glorify You in everything I do. I want it to count eternally.
23. Glory
God, everything around me every billboard, TV commercial, every advertisement tells me life is about me. I’m suppose to be happy, comfortable and better looking. In fact I should get everything I want making my life safe, soft, and easy. But God, that’s not true. Don’t ever let me be fooled into thinking that this life is mine or about me. You have bought my life with a high price, Your blood on the cross. I am no longer mine. I am Yours! I want to live in obedience for Your glory.
24. Prayer
Father, sometimes it’s hard to keep praying when I don’t see results. Don’t let me give up praying. Like the woman coming before the unrighteous judge in Luke 18, cause me to come before you again and again. Don’t let me give up hope when I pray.
25. Glory
Father, I wanna be the happiest I can be in You. I want to see Your glory and be satisfied in it. If I let my friends or my sports or my activities satisfy me more than you, please reveal that to me, so I can change. I want nothing to replace you as my greatest joy and delight.
26. Joy
Father, sometimes it’s the stupid little things that can ruin my day. Don’t let them upset me. Make my joy come from You. Cause me to keep a godly attitude in every situation, both big and small.
27. Evangelism
Jesus, help me to share you with all my friends. I don't want to be selfish and keep you all to myself. I know I need to do this so others can be filled with Your love and hope. It is hard for me to do this. Cause me to not be afraid because you are always with me.
28. Church Leadership
Father, I want to pray for the leadership of our church. Give them a heart of worship and a passion for Your word. Keep their marriages and families strong. Guide the leadership of our church for your glory.
29. Quiet Times
God, I realize that just as my body and mind need food to survive, that my spirit and soul need to feed on your word. God, cause me to take the needed time out everyday to spend with you, so my sould doesn't go hungry. Help the words on the page to come alive, so I might overflow with the joy you give.
30. Living For God
Lord, I want to grow in my faith. Help me to read your word more, and help me to pray on a regular basis. I need to go to church every Sunday and hang out with the right people. Don’t let me lie, give me self control, and give me patience with my parents. Draw me closer to You.
31. National Leaders
Father, I want to pray for the leaders of my nation. Make their joy be in you and may they trust in you to guide them. Help them to be in Your word. I pray that they will bless those around them. And God, keep them safe from harm and help them to serve you in everything they say and do.
32. Orphans
God, It’s amazing that there are over 40 million orphans in the world. Lord, I pray for them. Losing your parents would be so hard. Give them strength during these hard times. Give them opportunities and relationships that will help them become the person you want them to be. Help them to follow your plans for their life.
33. Widows
Lord Jesus, There are many people in my church and people in our neighborhoods who have lost a spouse. Help them to know how much you love them. And keep my eyes open so that I am available to serve them.
34. Homeless
Lord, so many people end up on the streets with nowhere else to go. I can’t imagine how lowly they must feel. Open up my eyes to see their needs and help them; whether it’s making sandwiches and feeding them, taking them cold drinks on a hot summer day, or simply being a listening ear. Let them know You love them and have a purpose and a plan for their lives.
35. Teachers
Jesus, I pray for my teachers. Give them wisdom and knowledge as they plan their classes and prepare for each student. Give them strength for the days that are tough and gratefulness for the easy days. And may You be the one that receives all the glory.
36. Confidence In You
Jesus, thank you for having a special purpose for my life and that all my days are written in Your book. Psalm 139:15-16 says, ’’I am not a mistake’’. Help me to remember that You wanted me and that You have a plan for my life.
37. Alcoholism In My Family
Jesus, My dad drinks all the time. I just get so ticked. I don't want to be around him. I love him God, but I can't depend on him. I ask that You would help him to stop drinking. I want my Dad back.
38. Respecting My Parents
In Leviticus 19:3, it says, ’’Each of you must respect his mother and father.’’ Help me Lord to have a high opinion of my parents and cause me to respect them everyday. When I act this way, it pleases You.
39. Praying For The President
God I lift up the President of the United States to You. He has a very tough job. I pray that the vision he has for our country would come from You. Inspire him to lead from Your word and fill him with courage to make a stand for what is right. Help him to be a man of honor. Thank You, Lord.
40. Leaders Of Our Country
God, I hear all around that the leaders of our country don’t up lift our President. I pray that You would cause them to see that they’re to respect him because the President is the leader of us. Help the President to be a man that is to be respected.
41. Respecting My Parents
God, thank you so much for giving me the parents You did. I know that I am loved because of how they care for me. Help me to be obedient to them so as I grow up, we will have a good relationship that will be pleasing and honoring to You.
42. Serving
God, You have put a desire in me to serve others. Will You show me where You are so I may adjust my life and priority and join You where You are?
43. Youth Group
Father our youth group needs Your focus. When we meet together, that we want be serious about the time we spend with You. I don’t want it to be about the games. As we learn about Your word, help us to apply it to our lives, always, even when we are away from church. Bring our group together through experiencing You.
44. Sadness In Loss
Jesus, my heart is hurting, I lost someone very close to me. I know that they are living with You and are healed and sitting next to You. But I miss them so much. Please take the pain away from my heart, comfort me; let me feel peace as I sit on Your lap. I’m glad that I can come to You and You will take care of me. I know the pain won’t leave right away, but what I do know is You are with me and care about my pain.
45. The Elderly
God You tell us in Leviticus 19:32, ’’Show respect to the aged, honor the presence of an elder. God, help me to be respectful towards the older generation. When I stand to give them a seat , that shows them honor; when I open the door or help them with their groceries, that brings them honor. But Father when I do these things with a pure heart, it brings You honor as well.
46. The Elderly
God I lift the elderly to You. I pray that as they are growing older that You would put Your hand of protection over them. Cause them to live a life full for You and be willing to share their experiences with us so we could learn from them. Bless them greatly.
47. Homeless
God I saw a homeless man on the corner the other day. I was grossed out by his smell and the way he looked. I have to admit that it is hard for me to look at him and love him. I know that You love him and adore Him. Help me to have a heart for the homeless. After all, they are people just like I me.
48. Evangelism
God, you are most glorified when many people praise your name. Help me to share Your good news about salvation to anyone who doesn’t know you. I want to do my part, but can’t do it alone. It’s You who works through me.
49. Community Involvement
Father, sometimes, we can be so focused on ourselves that we forget about the needs of those around us. There are people all around us that need You. Give us eyes to see the widow who can’t change a light bulb. Give us hands to reach out to a homeless person. Give us feet to go and do your will. Give us ears to listen to the shut-ins who are lonely. Make our lives a reflection of You.
50. Faith
I ask you to make my faith in You stronger. Wherever I am weak in my relationship with You, I ask You to grow me spiritually. It’s only because of you that I have faith, Help me to have more trust in your will. Wherever You are... put me there, put a spark in me, fan it into a flame that brightens so that everyone else others can see You in my life.
